Our vision is to have every African American student, in Alabama, read and write at or above grade-level proficiencies.

About Dr. Curry
Dr. Aubretta P. Curry, with over three decades of experience in education, has served in roles ranging from Elementary School Teacher to School of Education Department Chairperson. Her career reflects a deep commitment to literacy, professional development, and equity in education.
In 2024, Dr. Curry founded Literacy Periodt, Inc. to address the literacy achievement gap among African American students. Guided by Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), the organization offers tutoring, teacher training, and professional development, empowering educators and students to achieve academic success and social equity.
