About Dr. Curry

Dr. Aubretta P. Curry is a seasoned educator with over three decades of experience dedicated to advancing literacy and equity in education. Her extensive career has spanned a variety of impactful roles, including Elementary and High School Principal, Assistant and Associate Professor, and School of Education Department Chairperson. Her work has consistently emphasized the importance of effective instruction, professional development, and data-driven solutions, as reflected in her leadership roles as a Curriculum and Data Analysis Specialist and ARI Literacy Specialist. Through these positions, Dr. Curry has made significant contributions to education at every level, equipping teachers and students alike with the tools to thrive academically and personally.

In 2024, driven by her commitment to addressing the literacy achievement gap among African American students, Dr. Curry founded Literacy Periodt, Inc. Guided by the principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), the organization provides a comprehensive range of services, including tutoring, test preparation, teacher training, and professional development for educators at all stages of their careers. Literacy Periodt serves as a one-stop resource for literacy specialists, instructional leaders, and professors, empowering them to foster academic excellence and social equity. Through her leadership, Dr. Curry continues to champion literacy as the cornerstone of education and a catalyst for transformative change in underserved communities.
